ATLANTA, Georgia – August 13, 2010 – Each year, the Georgia Research Alliance (GRA) and the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) join forces to host the annual Business Launch Competition. The purpose of the GRA/TAG Business Launch Competition, now in its fifth year, is to encourage the creation and growth of new technology-based companies that will strengthen and expand Georgia’s technology community.

As members of TAG, as well as sponsors of the TAG/ATDC Entrepreneurs Society, this is the second year that Aventis Systems sponsors the GRA/TAG Business Launch Competition. “We firmly believe that as a community we should all look for ways to support the economic development of Georgia-based, technology companies,” remarks Tiffany Bloomer, Director of Business Development at Aventis Systems, Inc.
The winning company of the 2010 GRA/TAG Business Launch Competition was Toomah, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider that automates the interviewing process and significantly reduces hiring costs for companies of all sizes. As winners of the competition, Toomah received $50,000 in cash and over $200,000 in donated services from the Atlanta business community, including an IT hardware donation from Aventis Systems.

The donation of a fully-loaded Dell PowerEdge rackmount server and a Dell Latitude business-class laptop were perfect additions to Toomah’s growing infrastructure. Mike Shepet, Network Engineer at Toomah, expresses, “We are grateful for Aventis Systems’ equipment contribution and support of TAG. This new hardware will be instrumental in expanding our private cloud infrastructure. With the additional capacity, we will be able to rapidly deploy new SaaS solutions to help us meet the needs of a large top 15 US-based call center client and their high volume demands.”

Bloomer comments, “We are proud to assist innovative companies like Toomah in their efforts to grow and expand their business. We are currently testing their product and are forecasting that it will save us countless hours spent on recruiting efforts.”

ATLANTA, Georgia – July 21, 2010 – In times of economic hardship, it is rare to find a company reaching out to support their community, particularly in the educational arena. Aventis Systems, Inc., a leading provider of refurbished I.T. equipment, has proven its commitment to the local academic community by sponsoring organizations on Southern Polytechnic State University’s (SPSU) campus. This year, Aventis Systems is sponsoring two outstanding student-run organizations: the Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Team and the Society of Women Engineers. The Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) Team is an academically driven organization which challenges students across the country to design and build a submarine capable of performing technical challenges without the intervention of a human pilot. The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) focuses on empowering women as engineers and leaders, and promotes the expansion of women into industries that are traditionally male-dominated.

Throughout the 2009-2010 academic year, Aventis Systems, Inc. selected these organizations to benefit from a sponsorship package that offered more than just pecuniary support. Aventis Systems worked closely with both groups to improve the quality of the participants’ experience and increase membership for both organizations. Starting with the AUV Team, Aventis Systems assessed equipment the team was using to build and run their underwater vehicle as quite antiquated and inefficient at driving innovative changes planned for the vehicle. To that end, Aventis Systems donated more than $1,500 in computer hardware that has not only improved the speed at which the AUV Team designs and tests their vehicle, but also gave the team the ability to conduct tests on location, thus tremendously shrinking the time of their design cycle. Christy Hilley, the AUV Team’s Vice Captain comments, “Aventis’ equipment really came through for us. We put the desktops to use right away, and are excited to use them to help us win next year’s competition!”

Upon the Society of Women Engineer’s first meeting with Aventis Systems, the board expressed the basic need for donations to send their executive team to SWE’s national conference in Long Beach, California in November of 2009. Aventis Systems stepped in to support this endeavor ensuring that all members of the executive team could attend. According to Cindy Nguyen, SPSU-SWE Chapter President, “Attending the National Conference is important to SWE members for many reasons: networking, professional training, leadership training, and connecting with other members from across the country.”

An important factor to both organizations is membership, including the number of existing and newly recruited members. Aventis Systems organized and marketed to SPSU’s 5,200-strong student body with four recruitment events: two for each organization. These events led to a total of 15 additional members for the two organizations, 10 in particular for SWE. “We were able to recruit 10 members from Aventis’ sponsorship efforts,” according to Nguyen. “Some of these members became greatly involved with the organization and ran for many leadership positions for the next academic year. Thanks to Aventis’ assistance, we were able to recruit the best leaders to continue the SWE legacy at SPSU.” Marketing support included eCampaigns, flyers, and grassroots advertising.

“Our programming allowed these organizations to experience tremendous growth in terms of membership and general exposure on campus,” comments Tiffany Bloomer, Director of Business Development at Aventis Systems, Inc. “We are proud to support these extracurricular groups as the added benefit to the students is invaluable.” Aventis certainly knows SPSU students. According
to Bloomer, “Today, approximately 40% of our staff are SPSU alumni or current students. Giving back to the university that has provided our growing organization with the knowledge and talent it requires is the least we can do.”

Small and midsize businesses everywhere face fierce economic pressures in today’s climate of reduced sales and high operating costs. To add to these pressures, there is still a continuous need to update systems and IT infrastructure to keep pace with increasing Internet traffic, online customer service and general business demands. One of the ways businesses have coped with these economic pressures is by purchasing refurbished servers, hardware, routers and other IT equipment. It is a growing practice that saves money and reduces equipment acquisition time while still providing the performance needed for most business applications.

This white paper will examine the reasons why refurbished IT equipment makes sense for a vast majority of small and midsize businesses.

ATLANTA (January 27, 2009) – Despite the slowing economy, brisk sales of pre-owned IT equipment during 2008 have helped Atlanta-based Aventis Systems exceed first-year expectations and open a new satellite sales office to accommodate its growing business. Aventis Systems, founded in January 2008 by computer engineer Hesam Lamei, customizes pre-owned HP and Dell servers, computers, workstations and other IT equipment for small- to medium-sized businesses. The new sales office, located at 280 Interstate North Circle, Suite 640 in Atlanta, opened January 26, 2009 to offer sales assistance to local businesses.

“The lower cost of pre-owned IT equipment is proving to be a significant benefit for small- and medium-sized businesses, especially during these tough economic times,” says Lamei. “We have seen the market for this equipment grow rapidly this year, and we expect the trend to continue. In 2008 about 15 percent of our total sales came from the Atlanta area, and that figure is projected to double by the end of 2009. The new local sales office and staff will be dedicated to providing personalized service and customized hardware for Atlanta area businesses,” he says.

Aventis Systems began operations in January 2008 by offering refurbished IT equipment for sale over the Internet. Equipment offered for sale undergoes thorough cleaning, testing and repair to make sure it is functioning properly. All products offered for sale are backed by an industry-leading, three-year warranty against defects. Most products can also be modified to specific customer requirements.
